BIO

A passionate Innovator, Researcher and Software Engineer interested in developing scalable systems leveraging Machine Learning, Distributed Systems and Big Data.

  • MS in Computer Science at Columbia University (2019-2020)
    • Focusing on Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Robotics.
    • Research Assistant at Columbia Robotics Lab. Advised by Prof. Peter Allen. Working on using Scene Understanding and Semantic Segmentation to improve robot navigation.
    • Awarded the PDL Fellowship to be part of a small elite community of MS students who exhibit the spirit and characteristics of Professional Development and Leadership. One of 40 students to receive the fellowship out of ~1000 graduate students at the School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS), Columbia University.
    • Awarded CA Fellowship for exceptional performance as a CA in COMS 6998: Practical Deep Learning Systems Performance. Comes with full tuition waiver.
  • Software Engineer at Visa Inc. (2017 - 2019)
    • Published multiple patents on developing products improving Consumer Engagement, Value Added Services (VAS) etc.
    • Developed a publisher-subscriber system for processing real time data stream processing about 20k requests every second and upto 400 million every day. Tuned the architecture for automatic recovery, fail-over and zero downtime.
    • Devised a consumer engagement study on Transaction Gamification using NodeJS, MongoDB, iOS and Android.
    • Proposed a reliability engineering strategy spanning across multiple architectures using OpenTSDB, Grafana, Bosun Alerting.
  • NTU Research Assistantship via URECA & FYP-URECA (2014 - 2017)
    • Advised by: Prof. Zhang Jie (Webpage) and Hongliang Guo (Webpage)
    • Improved Stochastic Path Planning and proposed a model for Multi-agent path planning.
    • The work resulted in first authored conference paper (IEEE ITSC), a journal paper (IEEE TIST) and a workshop paper (TRANSET)
    • The work was also presented at ICUR (International Conference of Undergraduate Research) conference at Monash University, Australia in 2016.
    • In 2017, I also received the award for 'Overall Winner' in the category of 'Information Technology and Computer Science' in Discover URECA@NTU poster competition.
  • BMW Group, Munich (2016)
    • Advised by: Dr. Ulrich Fastenrath and Tobias Kraus
    • Project: Stochastic Vehicle Routing
    • Implemented stochastic vehicle routing for in car demonstration.
    • Optimized route calculations by 20 times by designing in memory caching solution for large graphs.

Apart from my Research and Technical Experience, I was also a Founder and Head of Sales & Marketing at Tee!kle, a company aimed at revolutionizing the apparel industry through slogan T-shirts. The venture went south, but resulted in tremendous learning experience for me and my team. In addition to my startup, I was also chosen to be a part of Silicon Valley Immersion Programme as one among 20 students in a fully-funded entrepreneurship immersion programme based in San Francisco.
